Getting it done!

Well, I'm making progress on my Goddess Shawl, as I have come to call it now. I like the pattern that I've made and other than a few glitches that I've worked out with the stitching, it's coming along nicely!

Starting over...

So, I kept trying and kept trying to get the "pattern" that I wanted to work...and it just wouldn't. So, I'm back to the drawing board. Now I'm trying something else. Going to try doing a hdc then move to a criss cross. Working on it now and we'll see how that comes out.

I've started my new project!

So, I didn't find anything that liked for a pattern and I've decided to "make my own." It's not so much of a pattern really other than doing several basic stitches in rows, then changing my color. Basically, I'm winging it! I started out with a sc, then moved to a hdc, then will move to a dc, and then a tr and at that point I'll change colors and start back at a sc and go through that pattern again and so on till I feel it's as long as I want it to be. Now I just have to keep my cat Willow from stealing my yarn! LOL

New Yarn!!!

Yea!!! I got new yarn tonight. Black and a deep red called Berry Red. Instead of making a hat and scarf out of these, I think I'm going to try my hand at a prayer shall and if it comes out, put it up for sale on Etsy. Now to look for the pattern I want to make!

Hmmm....

So, I tried to crochet again today with the Lion Brand Homespun. Nope. Just can't do it. Not  yet. I can't see what I'm doing and can't manipulate the yarn well enough. I really want to make a hat and scarf out of this stuff but I'm just going to have to wait.

Now I have to find a way to get yarn and either finish my afghan or start something new.

I'm very frustrated at this point.

Argh!

So, since I'm new to crochet, I thought I would start out on an afghan (blanket) and go from there. My yarn that I started with was simple, straight forward yarn. No mess, no fuss. I didn't have enough to finish my afghan, but it has a good start.

Well, now I want to do a hat and scarf. The yarn that I have now is Lion Brand Homespun and I'm having a hard time crocheting with it. I guess I just don't have enough experience yet. I don't have any trouble with "regular" yarn, but for whatever reason, this bit is just escaping me. I have a really hard time seeing all my links. Anyone have any suggestions?

New to crochet..

So, this is my first blog...ever!

My mother, for Christmas, taught me how to crochet. Now, this was something that I wanted. I figured that it would be something that I would be able to do and pass on if I was able, but it was something special from my mother to me.

My first project was an afghan, which...I just finished all the skeins that my mom had bought for me. Now I need another ... oh 14 to 16 skeins! LOL I did a pattern that she was not used to and she thought that 6 skeins would do it. Oh well. Now I need to figure out how to add to my afghan as it's only a little over a full hand (from finger tips to wrist) wide. Not much of a blanket.. yet!

Here is what I have so far...

The Back
The Front
So, now to figure out how to add to it....with other colors? LOL
